Friends of the Muscatatuck: At our April 11 meeting an agenda for action was developed. Here is a rough outline: Next meeting will be Wednesday May 2nd @ 7:00PM in the JC Library. Meetings will be on the first Wednesday of each month at 7:00 at the library. Ken Huff will invite prosecutor Gary Smith to the May meeting. Dan Shade will contact the Boy and Girl Scouts to enlist as allies. Bob Barnett and Scott Woolls of Twin Cities will find out about signs and mission statement. Kim Lampert will contact SISWD (689-3525) to enlist their assistance. Laura Adams will handle media relations i.e., PSAs to all local outlets. Frank Biehle will contact the two mayors for support of clean-ups. Jack Countryman will contact SEI Data concerning an internet communication. There will be a Muscatatuck River Clean-up on June 16th @ 9:00AM Cheryl Trisler will contact Rainbow Disposal for assistance with the clean-ups. Larry Allsop will contact Jones Salvage yard concerning assistance. Bill Suhre will contact the county 4-H clubs to enlist their assistance. Tom Moore will explore possibilities with Franklin Salvage. Susan Walters will liaison with the Visitor's Center. Everett Sparkman will check out camera possibilities. Partial List of Items Discussed- The idea of Adopt-A-Creek and Adopt-A-Bridge with service organizations, churches, and others doing the adopting. How to work with the county and state during clean-ups. Respecting landowners and enlisting their assistance. Using the racetrack and driver statements for education. Coordinating with businesses and business people to assist in many ways, including media expectations. Using the expertise of the American Canoe Association River Appreciation Week- Articles, PSAs, interviews, etc. This list is not inclusive. Other people agreed to do things and those listed may have agreed to do more. Definitely, other topics were discussed. If you were left out, it wasn't intentional and apologies are extended. The reason for the list is to help keep us focused, moving forward, and in a common direction. Tom
