Ken Huff met with the commissioners and tried to explain who we are and what we are up to, which Andy will help us finalize at the first opportunity. Ken relayed that our goal is to clean the river. He talked with them concerning taking care of the trash problem. It was decided we would try to appear as a group in the future to illustrate support for our positions. Ken got the trash pick up sites on the community info line. Two signs were brought to the meeting and are to be put up at Sullivan's Ford and The Vernon Commons. Twin Cities made the signs, not sure who brought them or who is putting them up. Larry Jacobs and Ralph Guenthenspberger- secured the services of 15 Boy Scouts including canoe trailer and canoes. He also stated United Way wants to film Boy Scouts doing things in the community to show donors. He will check on the June 16 date. Jo Ann Hallawell brought bags and release statements. John Huff stated Jim Clarkson couldn't arrange JCMS help since school is out. Tracy Hotka and Kevin Campbell secured food from Subway and McDonald's. Larry Allsop ordered bags and contacted Jones Salvage (no), Fitzpatrick Smelters (yes), Kroot (yes), and Franklin Salvage (yes) concerning accepting metal items. He also coordinated with Travis Shepherd for workers to clean Tunnel Mill. Kim Lampert stated Roy Johnson and the FFA are informed of date, time, location. She also checked out Adopt-A-River, River Watch, and Hoosier River Friendly Farmer program. New Business Ken Huff- will get us on the commissioner's agenda and monitor part of the website if we get one. Check on the particulars of having a flat bed to display river litter. Laura Adams will get the date, time (9-12), and location, along with lunch provided, in the newspaper. Also a mention of appropriate clothing, then a follow up article concerning successes, donations and/or sponsors. Jo Ann Hallawell mentioned assigning someone to keep statistics on what we accomplish. Tracy Hotka and Kevin Campbell will approach Wal-Mart for drinks, wipes, and gloves. Tracy will possibly monitor part of the website, if we get one. Larry Allsop will take liability forms to Gary Smith for approval and will check with his family concerning development of a web page. Cheryl Trisler will take a form to Gary Smith for approval. She will also check with Maschino and the Highway Dept. to determine best way to collect Saturday's trash. Someone (?) will put up signs at the two access sites. Assign people to get liability forms filled out on Saturday morning. Solidify particulars concerning gloves, food, drinks, etc. Map and plot plan of attack for Saturday the 16th. Decide where and how much to cover per worker.
