February 6, 2002 Friends of the Muscatatuck River Society Gary Conant attended the meeting. He said that after this meeting he would need about 15 minutes at our March meeting. Gary handed out a page displaying the mission statement and the statement to refine the mission statement. He also handed out a list that was compiled from the brainstorming session. We took these items and assigned them to the different subcommittees. We also listed different groups that could be potential partners. We also went through and named the strengths, weakness, opportunities and threats. Gary is going to bring a list of these items to the next meeting. Gary brought up the need to have an election for official officers. We need to establish the minimum number of officers and subcommittee chairs. We also need to establish bylaws. While Gary was there he mentioned that Historic Hoosier Hills is going to be having its Annual Meeting on March 26, at the Vocational School in Versailles at 6:00. He invited the group to attend the meeting and bring a display. Dan Shade brought up the status of having the T-shirts printed. He has been working with K & G Sports. He brought up that he had picked a brown shirt because they would show less grime during the cleanups. The shirt would have green printing. The logo would be printed on the back and Friends of the Muscatatuck River Society would be printed on the pocket in the front. The Riverwatch program has equipment grants available. The equipment consists of a chemical kit to be used in water quality testing. It was decided that the group would pursue this grant. In order to complete the grant by March 15, those interested would meet on Thursday, February 21, at 7:00 at the Library. The Riverwatch Level I training is going to be held on Saturday March 9th at Muscatatuck County Park. It will be from 8:00 - 3:00. If you know of anyone that is interested call Wanda Brooks at 346-3411 Ext. 3.
