Friends of the Muscatatuck River Society Monthly Minutes Opening: 6-6-02 Call to order by Vice President Ken Huff at 7:00 PM. Future meeting's minutes will be available upon arrival for private perusal and reading before acceptance. Treasurer's Report: Not presented by the treasurer because of checkbook absence. Ken Huff had the $500 check he garnered for us from Verizon. He is forwarding it to the HHH account. Kim asked if our treasurer needed to be bonded and if we had a policy for the distribution of funds. Old Business: Tasks for June 15 cleanup: Dan Contact Bestway and County Highway concerning disposal Greg/Sherida Invite public officials and write thank you notes John Student involvement Ken Bags, gloves, gift certificates Dan/Megan Food donations and arrangements Kim Liability papers for signatures, packets with phones #'s, concerns, etc. Sherida Boy Scouts Tom Contact Probation Officer Travis Shepherd Greg Publicity- website, Plain Dealer, trifold brochure, radio Kim said the 1% HHH handling charge may be waived for the $350 water quality grant. Meetings are being changed to the first THURSDAY at 7:00 PM at the Library. A committee attended the Soil and Water Conservation District meeting on May 28th at 7:00 PM at the field office on Hwy. 7. The SWCD board approved total financial assistance with our brochure publication especially since we are a new organization and also discussed using some of their unused ditch erosion money for river erosion. Greg brought us up to date on an EPA 319 non-point of pollution grant that HHH qualifies us for. We are doing the things already that the grant requires; we would need to write them up in grant form and add some needs e.g. camera, etc. Sherida, Andy, Greg, and Kim met as a committee with Kathleen to pursue this. It will be brought up at the next meeting. New Business: We will have a booth at the fair. Please respond with a time you can run the booth, if you are willing. Clean Up- Everyone will meet first at the Commons except for the Tobias Ford crew. The clean up is scheduled to run from 9 to 12 AM and then eat Vinegar Mill at 1:00 PM. They were explained and approved by unanimous vote. President Dan Shade and the secretary then signed the by-laws into effect.
