Friends of the Muscatatuck River Society Monthly Minutes Opening: 1-7-03 Call to order by president Dan Shade at 7:00 PM. Attendance: Dan Shade Tom Moore Ken Huff John Huff Sherida Moore Nathan Nichols Susannah Hole Jo Ann Hallawell Larry Allsop Everett Sparkman Cheryl Trisler Minutes: From last meeting reviewed and accepted. Treasurer's Report: Local balance $783.58. There were no expenditures, but an unrecorded $30 debit was entered. There is an outstanding debt of $20.94 for first aid kits. HHH balance is $500 and Ken reported $500 is soon be accrued for a second time from Verizon. Old Business: Maps were discussed and approved. Wanda Brooks will demonstrate water monitoring at the June 14th clean up and display the results at Vinegar Mill during lunch. New Business: Election of treasurer and vice president as per the by laws was conducted. Larry Allsop was reinstalled as treasurer and Ken Huff as vice president. Congratulations to both and honors for serving. Jo Ann Hallawell is now with the Communities In Schools Association and able to be a member. She is in a position to possibly champion some of our goals at the elementary school level. The HHH Annual Meeting will be Monday, March 24th. Susannah Hole conducted the next part of the meeting, taking up where Andy Ertel had stopped. We will have our business meeting before the Open House on February 4th. The Open House to celebrate our accomplishments and illustrate our plans for the future will start at 7:00 PM in Room One of the Jennings Library. A draft program guide is as follows: 7-7:15 Refreshments/Milling through exhibits 7:15-7:30 Power Point Presentation and discussion 7:30-7:40 Guest Speaker 7:40-7:50 Mayor Hall swears in new officers 7:50-8:00 Appreciations and Thank Yous 8:00-8:15 Door Prizes 8:15-8:20 Concluding Comments 8:20-8:30 Mix and Mill through exhibits Susannah Hole will send a rough draft of an invitation/flyer within two days. We are hoping attendees will be people who have helped in the past and new recruits to take on tasks in the future. We will advertise (gratis) in the newspaper, radio, flyers, email, personal, and mailed invitations. Exhibitors will be: Water Quality- Ken and Larry; Pollution-Bill Beville and Steve Reinholt; Erosion/Buffer Strips- Jenny Vogel; FMRS-Dan; Toxic Waste- Earl Taggart. All attendees agreed to share making the contacts and sending invitations as well as providing food and drink for the evening. If you are so inclined to contribute, then please reply by e-mail so that we can plan the foodstuffs.
