Treasurer's Report: Local balance $754.67. HHH balance is $500 and Ken reported $500 is to be accrued for a second time from Verizon in April. Exhibitors were: Water Quality- Ken and Larry; Erosion/Buffer Strips- Jenny Vogel; FMRS-Dan; Toxic Waste- Dave Burton Mayor John Hall spoke of the greatness of the Muscatatuck as a resource and its value to the community. In the past he has mentioned to schoolchildren that being a good citizen meant not littering. He pledged not only physical and emotional support, but also financial support of the group by buying a shirt and a one-year FMRS membership into the Jennings County Chamber of Commerce-quite a gift! Mayor Hall then inducted our newly reelected vice president Ken Huff and treasurer Larry Allsop. The mayor closed by encouraging us to create a Friend of the Muscatatuck Award for deserving citizens. I don't have the sign in list, so some will be missed, but here are some attendees and the thanks they received. Jenny Vogel-Targeting riparian areas along the Muscatatuck. Barbara King- Plain Dealer and Sun. Publishing all of our minutes in the paper. Publicizing and reporting all of our clean ups; often with front page attention. Don Clark- Making sure everything we pick up is removed courtesy of the Jennings County Highway Department. Larry Allsop- Charter member, supplier of bags and equipment, treasurer. Susannah Hole- Created the power point presentation for the Annual meeting, pictures, maps. Jo Ann Hallawell- liaison to Solid Waste District and elementary schools Andy Ertel- Liaison to Jennings County Soil and Water Conservation District, organizer, grant help Greg Martin- Grant writer and builder of our great website. Cheryl Trisler- Liaison to Area Plan Commission, provider of all the decorations and table service at the Annual meeting; got Pepsi to donate to 24x2 feet FMRS banners. Everett Sparkman- Runs the Tobias Ford clean up once a year. Jack Countryman- use of canoe, helping with clean ups, espirit de corps Sherida Moore- Food for special meetings; fixes all of our errors. Ken Huff- River Watch executive and recruiter. Tom Moore- Writing these #*@+!~#* minutes ain't I? Dan Shade- Running the show The great power point presentation by Susannah included: Our inclusion in the Historic Hoosier Hills RCD as a non-profit subcommittee with our officers listed, vision, and goal setting help. River clean ups with data on weight and tires that impressed the uninitiated. Great pictures of trash, tires, and workers.
