Friends of the Muscatatuck River Society Monthly Minutes Opening: 4-1-03 Call to order by president Dan Shade at 7:03 PM. Attendance: Dan Shade Ken Huff Joann Moore Tom and Sherida Moore Susannah Hole Larry Allsop Nathan Nichols Bonnie Boggs Everett Sparkman Minutes: From last meeting reviewed and accepted. Treasurer's Report: Local balance was $277.17. Sold $330 in shirts. Balance now $607.17 Pizza Hut earnings to date are $95 with $45 in printing expense. Earnings will be administered after the Wednesday, April 9 fundraiser. Old Business: Shirts- About even on money now. Design well accepted. Offer at the to upcoming cleanups. Order 10 more each of large and XL. Newsletter- Bonnie was present to discuss format, distribution, and focus. There will be a calendar of events, input from membership, and ... It will be emailed and inserted, as well as mailed and displayed. Thanks Bonnie. 319- Greg says it is approved, awaiting the US president's signature. We need to write a job description, determine advertisement, and process to screen applicants. For all of this we need someone to facilitate for us-at our next meeting. Can you do that Gary? HHH Annual Meeting- Susannah represented us and got sincere reaction to the slides and posters concerning tonnage and tires. Joe Pearson mentioned our webbing with the community and other agencies as a guide and goal for others. We discussed how to be included in the HHH literature and correspondence. The meeting was very well attended. New Business: . River Monitoring- Ken will set us up to host a Level 2 workshop in the fall and a Level 1 in the summer. Ken will run a river monitoring workshop during the June 14th cleanup and will enroll people for the workshops. Will we be doing the BOD5 test to validate our results in the future. Pizza Hut Fundraiser- Next Wednesday we will put up posters, banners, and flyers about town. We will man the Hut from start to close to insure that all receipts are accredited. We will try to get members and friends to participate. We will give shirts to the staff to wear and advertise. April 26 Cleanup- Conducted at 2 sites; Tobias Ford bridge in Marion Township and the Vernon Commons from 9:00 to noon. Will be a bridge and bank cleanup unless the water is low. Organizers: Vernon- Ken, Bonnie, Larry, Susannah Tobias- Everett, Tom, Sherida, Joann Donuts and coffee provided. Auction- If you have anything for Dan's auction, then get it to him, or, better yet, bring it to the Muscatatuck Park at dusk to the back of the campground on Saturday April 26th. Andy- we will be purchasing a restaurant gift certificate for him and babysitting for a night out. Let me know if something important is not in the minutes.
