Friends of the Muscatatuck River Society Meeting Minutes: January 3rd in the Jennings County Library Meeting called to order @ 5:35 pm. Attendance: Kevin Jayne, Simeon Stearns, Les Ticknor, Tom Moore, Sherida Moore, Delbert Vincent Minutes approval: Approved as read with a suggestion to clarify that effluent from the Delmar subdivision does not flow directly into the Muscatatuck River. Old Business: 319 closeout (camera, laptop): All grant items are finalized and closeout forms have been mailed. It was agreed to store the camera and laptop @ the Health Department cubicle with the acknowledgement that the camera and laptop are property of HHH. RCAP/ JNRU @ Delmar addition: The current system in place now at Delmar Addition is dumping raw sewage straight into a tributary of the Muscatatuck River without any functioning filter system. We were informed that, upon advice of Common Wealth Engineering and Brad Rupel, JNRU will not relinquish the rights of the sewage disposal without a fight. Annual Meeting: Meeting is confirmed for February 7, 2006. Action register: Will come out as a separate document from the minutes. - Library conference room is reserved @ 5:00 pm. - Sherida has contacted Mayor John Hall for officer induction and he confirmed. - 319 report for meeting: Simeon will pass the printed final report around for review. He will contact Leeann to see if she can be present to co-present. - Dan Shade Memorial: Display a picture of the access site sign and add to the Powerpoint presentation. Assignments: Tom: - Dave/Jim Shaw on concrete dumping: Tabled. - Kindergarten Earth Day Celebration- Simeon will see if Leeann is able to participate. If the project comes together before the annual meeting, it will be presented then. Troy: - H & H Computer for decals: H & H can print 4x6 1000 count for $1.75 each. Tom will get an existing decal for Troy to reference. Simeon is delivering previous decals for reference. Cherie mentioned Huskill Tech Service in Seymour (522-2154) that could be much cheaper; she has used them in the past through the Crystal Glades Lake Association. Troy will pursue this option. Tabled - FMRS site dump-warning signs: Troy will contact the company mentioned above for the sign also. Tabled Simeon: - Treasury report: Balance $2,206.31 - Expenses paid include Insight Advertising $404.80 and Watershed Management training, Purdue University $250. - Internet updates: Simeon will be the liaison until Kevin and Bill Black are in communication. Kevin: - Watershed Management class: Kevin approached the Jennings County Community Foundation and other organizations to request $400 to cover the fee and travel expenses. Steve Mobley notified Kevin that the Foundation approved the grant and will issue the check this week. THANKS!!! - Thank-you Certificates: Kevin is putting them in a frame and printing on ivory paper. Kevin and Sherida will handle this and present to the sponsors. - Kevin looked into a camera sold @ Wal-Mart for $40.00. It operated with flash, which renders it useless for this clandestine task. -Kevin presented a way for members to get business cards in order to spread the word. Sherida: Frames for Certificates- done. Mayor- done. Camera, computer, and HHH balance- she talked to Phyllis as reported previously concerning the camera and computer. The HHH balance will be settled when all claims are ended for the 319 grant. Susannah - contacted for Power Point and agreed upon. Greg: -State Employee Payroll deduction listing. Tabled - Contact the Sand Creek Society which advertised for an employee for their watershed management plan to show our interest to partner with them; Greg and Simeon to handle this. Troy Jackson All were approved unanimously. Other: - Office Hours: We need volunteers to occupy the FMRS office 10-15 hours per week from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday through Friday. Some items to be discussed are: -Skipping some monthly meetings; possibly March or April, July, August, and December. - Nominating officers in October.
