FMRS Meeting Minutes 5-9-06 Jennings County Government Center, Friends Office Call to Order @ 5:36 PM Attendance: Tom Moore, Joann Moore, Kevin Jayne, Troy Jackson, Simeon Stearns, Everett Sparkman, Christiana Koons. Approval of Minutes: Corrected the spelling of Christinia's name in April's minutes. Treasurer's Report (Summary): - CENTRA: Checking $3040.47; Savings $25.51; TOTAL $3065.98; Total Debits $165.68 - Home Federal: Checking $1849.68; Total receipts $547.00 Need to add Kevin's expense reimbursement for Watershed Management course. Troy will need $217.00 for decal printing to Hukill Signs (see notes below). Old Business: Assignments: Troy: - Decals and dump signs: Troy presented examples of new logo made by Hukill Signs in Seymour. Prices are $1.10 each for standard decals and $2.14 each for the static cling type. Troy ordered 100 standard and 50 static decals; standards are ready now and static ones on Friday. A motion was made and carried to pass these out @ the cleanup on a 'first come, first serve' basis. The group needs to make a map showing the locations we want to place our dump signs; we can then present this to Jeff Fish (JNRU engineer), who will get the county to make the signs and place them at those locations. -Web site information: Troy will keep the web site updated (approx.1-2 hours per month). He will call Bill Black to get login info, instructions on how to do so. Simeon/Tom: -Moultrie game/perpetrator camera: 2 cameras were purchased. One is a digital style for $98.73; Simeon will purchase a 6-volt battery and memory stick for it (not included) and get it mounted. The other is a 35mm version, complete with 8 rolls of film; Everett will ask Bryce Mayor @ PD&S for low exposure (12 count) rolls of film for developing film often and remaining economical. Everett will get it mounted. Simeon will purchase cable and locks to secure the cameras. Kevin: - Watershed Management training highlights: Tabled for next meeting due to time constraints. New Business: - Skipping some monthly meetings: A motion was made and carried to skip March, July, August, and December. The president may call an emergency meeting if needed between times. - Curriculum purchase for schoolroom use: Purchases were made and kits were issued. Rose Bishop from Scipio Elementary received her Non-point Source model kit, and sent a thank-you note to the group. ACTION REGISTER May 13th Sweep Food Kevin: Subway-40 sandwiches; KFC-slaw and mashed potatoes; McDonald's-40 plain hamburgers; Papa John's-'unlimited' pizzas. Joann will supply condiments. Tom will supply chips. Drinks Sherida/Tom will get $25 worth of water from IGA; some water left from last cleanup. Walmart offered to donate next time, pending w get our request form issued in time. Troy was rejected by RC, but is still waiting to hear from Pepsi for soft drinks and barrel coolers. He will call Don Dillman @ Bartholomew County Beverage. Gloves Simeon: Steve Cardinal from Sheriff's Department will donate. Registration Christinia w/Sherida: Tom presented pre-registration list to group. Publicity: TV Simeon: Advertisement is running on Channel 14. Civic Groups Simeon/Tom will talk to Kiwanis, Rotary and JCHS. Radio Simeon: 92.7 and 96.3 have been contacted and are running ads. Newspaper The Minutes were published last month. Website Troy will add info to web hopefully in time for the cleanup, but will definitely add cleanup stats after the cleanup HHH/Community Calendars Sherida/Joann: was not done. Fliers Bill: They have been issued around town to local businesses. First Aid Les will handle this. Trash Bags Kevin said there are plenty in our dry bags. Other: - Tom suggested that the FMRS enter a float in the Railroad Days Parade. The group will discuss this further next meeting. - John Huff will be giving water quality presentations to third graders from Graham Creek, Brush Creek and North Vernon Elementary Schools; one was today and another to occur on Wednesday. While giving out water and quality stats, many of the parents and teachers showed concerns and interest in learning what they can do to help. John requested and was given flyers and brochures to hand out for the Wednesday session A motion was made and carried to give a stipend of $75 to John for his time spent.
