Deadline for WMT training application is this month, and info is on the web. Volunteers are needed to attend the class (FMRS will compensate expenses). Les and Troy showed interest, but Troy's schedule will not allow it and Les will look into his. Cherie Ticknor- Roots and Shoots The group agreed to remove from the list for now. Dump signs @ Tobey Hole Tom feels that Jeff Fish and the commissioners should be able to get them made for us. This needs to be followed up. Simeon will contact Richard Nyer and Kenneth Smith @ IDEM to see how they can support us on this. Web site: Troy will attempt to get our site posted this month, and Kevin has offered to help keep it updated. Simeon will get website info to Troy from Rodney Holmes (developed in Microsoft Frontpage 2003), and Tom will let Troy borrow the laptop to use Microsoft Frontpage 2003. A contest to develop a new logo for the website needs to be organized. (?) New Business: Chamber of Commerce The group agreed to remove from the list. Action Register review and things learned from 10-7 sweep The group agreed that everything went well this time. Congratulations to all who participated! Highlights from the review include: - Gloves: Les will check into "All-Grip" brand gloves from his workplace - Registration: Add a "Check in/Check out" box to sign-in forms - First Aid: We need 1 dry bag per leader @ each site. This will require purchasing 5 dry bags, 3 first aid kits, 7 compact shovels, a few more 5 gallon buckets, and possibly a couple of "come-alongs" . Coffee Creek likes to donate to our cause, so we will submit a list to them and see if they will help us out. - Storage: Les will take inventory on our supplies. - Trash Bags: We will pack 3 large bags from Les' workplace per dry bag. Also need to purchase 10 boxes of 3mil bags, disinfectant wipes, and sanitizer. - Wal-Mart grant: We will apply earlier this year and try to get it this time around. - Heavy equipment: We need to contact Mike Magner @ FPBH for their equipment - Contacts: Girl Scouts were unrepresented this time. - Cell phone list: Need to laminate next time to protect from the environment. Our next cleanup will be May 12; Simeon has already printed our advertisement banner. Improvements and suggestions were discussed: - More pre-cleanup reconnaissance, particularly north of the dam to Sullivan and Eulers Ford; volunteers are needed, and need to be trained on the GPS. Trouble areas should be marked (i.e. utility flag markers). Contact Goeckers to ask them to donate flags. - Evaluate food sources; our Papa John's contact Ben Dryden is no longer employed there, so Kevin will work on developing a new connection. - Evaluate each site location and equipment/manpower required: Les suggested limiting to 5 workers at Vernon Cemetery; Simeon and Troy suggested sending a Jeep with a wench and 6-7 people to 300N site; Simeon and Tom think we need to monitor dumping at 500N site, and possibly monitor with a camera. - More promotion of watershed quality to the general public (Simeon and Leanne do a wonderful job in the educational sector!). 319 Grant status The grant was rewarded and a meeting was held Monday @ HHH for a preliminary review. The group requested that Terry and Kathleen either email a meeting summary or present it at our next meeting. One issue that was discussed at the meeting was quarterly HRW testing and reporting in order to obtain sufficient baseline data. Correspondence: None to report this month. Other: 2007 Officer Elections: No oppositions were made against any office position, and no officer requested to step down after the end of the term, resulting in officers remaining the same during the 2007 term. Officers candidates are: President - Tom Moore Vice President - Kevin Jayne Secretary - Troy Jackson Treasurer - Sherida Moore Troy will email a copy of the by-laws to Les, and meeting minutes from June - October to Tom.
