This will be added to the by-laws at a later date. Old Business: Dump signs @ Tobey Hole: Tom suggested we put dump warning signs at most accessed sites (Tobey Hole, Tobias Ford, Sullivan Ford, Artz Ford, Rock Crest Falls, etc.) The county commissioners can arrange making and posting the signs; we will need to provide a map of the locations where we want them posted. Vickie will aid in providing GPS locations and maps. Kevin suggested making this one of our summer special projects (see "Other" section below). Web Site: Tom will forward the cleanup statistics to Cherie to incorporate into the website. Kevin will look into the PDS website Link/Ad offer ($10 per month to post a banner on their site). Where are we on the 319 Grant: Troy will be the FMRS rep on the interview panel for the Grant Coordinator position. The interview panel reps are the Regional Director of Soil and Water Districts serving Scott, Jefferson and Jennings Counties, a member of Historic Hoosier Hills Council, a member from Ripley SWCD and a member of FMRS. We have received 3 applications so far on the Central Muscatatuck position. The job is listed at EcoEmploy.com. The applications received at this point have good qualifications listed and 2 are residents of Southeast Indiana. Terry Stephenson (HHHC) will send Troy resumes of the candidates for review; the resumes had not been received at the time this was written. Troy will call Terry to get an update on this Office Arrangements: Tom will take Troy and Kevin to the Carnegy Library building after the meeting to assess the available office space there; they will make a decision and will inform Kathy Vawter and the commissioners of their results. T-Shirts: The charge would be $5 per shirt S-XL, $6 2X, $7 3X & 7X with no set up charge. This is one color print, one side. We can get the shirts in the kiwi color that we just had. The group agreed to purchase $212 worth of shirts (50 shirts) in assorted sizes. Tom can have them by Railroad Days Festival. For the next cleanup, we will set a $500 cap on shirt purchases. New Business: Larry Skinner - recycling, etc.: Tabled (did not attend). River of Blues: Hugh Partridge's efforts organizing the concert were successful, despite low attendance. He thanked us for our contribution to the event and the recycling work from Les' "Old Hippie Recycling" and his crew. FMRS raised $479 from the guitar raffle. We sent a thank-you note to Hugh for all his support and efforts. Kevin suggested improvements to make it go smoother next year: 1. We need more than 1 FMRS official to man the booth for the entire day. 2. We need to try to schedule our cleanup date to miss this event if possible; we will look at dates in late April (early May is occupied with SAT and prom). Action Register for May 12 Sweep recap: 1. Know the sites and their leader before the sweep: Potential leaders include Tom, Kevin, Troy, Simeon, Les Ticknor, Bill Suhre/Roger Robinette (canoes), Jim Shaw/Don Layman (canoes), Cody Kreutzjahn, Lois Kellar, Richard Vogel, Steve/Trish Losey, Everett Sparksman, Rob McGriff, Bill Browning/ Wayne Moore (Cub Scouts). 2. Debrief each leader afterwards and get info from or have them make a report. This will remove some load off Tom's already full plate that day. 3. Get more canoes in the water. 4. See if a civic-minded group will take over food service: We need to put out 'feelers' on this; Vickie, Cherie, Kevin, Sherida, Tom and Troy will do this. 5. Sound system at AM registration: Troy will provide his system for the cleanup. 6. Streamline registration: At least 3 people are needed; split up the sign-up lists into groups (ex.: A-H, I-P, Q-Z). Railroad Days presence: Kevin will pass out fliers with his Methodist Church group as will Troy in the crowd during the parade. Correspondence: - Vickie Girt, Executive Director Jennings County SWCD, attended this evening to make a connection with us and to show her commitment to our cause. One of her roles is as a liaison between county commissioners and SWCD board of directors. - The Community Foundation thanked the FMRS for donating a canoe trip as a door prize for the German Event a while back. Tom and Simeon will coordinate with Steve Mobley to get the contact info of the winner and to arrange the trip details. - Cherie brought info on a program called 'Goodsearch', which is a program designed to donate a sum per 'hit' on a website to a selected charity, as potential funds for the FMRS. Troy took the info and will do research on this. Other: Things to be done during the summer: 1. Kevin will form a committee (2-3 core people) to attack FMRS issues. This committee will report its results at every meeting and via email during off times. 2. Tom will investigate 501C3 status; Chuck Waggoner approximated this to be about a 75-hour project. 3. Sherida will work with Kristi Rowell @ United Way to apply for a special projects grant. 4. Kevin will investigate forming a Muscatatuck program similar to the Muskrat/Wildcat program he learned about during the Watershed Leadership Academy; they take local officials on 'canoe tours' show them the condition of their local water supply. 5. Troy will look into updating the FMRS By-laws. 6. Tom and Vickie will work on the dump signs project Agenda for next meeting: (proposed; Tom will revise and send ou tbefore next meeting) Old Business Dump signs @ Tobey Hole Web Site Where are we on the 319 Grant Office Arrangements T-Shirts New Business April cleanup date Larry Skinner - recycling, etc. JCCF Canoe trip 'Goodsearch' research Summer Project updates Meeting Adjourned @ 6:40 PM The next meeting is September 4th at 5:30PM in the Jennings County Public Library.
